About Us

S H Jones Wines was established in Banbury in 1848 and has been in the ownership of the Jones family since 1886. Since the beginning a large proportion of the company's business has been supplying the on-trade, and we continue to serve pubs, hotels and restaurants in a large area around Banbury. The company took over the current High Street premises in 1913, and opened two further shops in Bicester and Leamington in the late 1990s. There is now a second outlet in Banbury, the Cellar Shop, attached to our large warehouse on the Tramway Estate. As well as our extensive range of wines, the shops also stock a large range of spirits and liqueurs, and a variety of local bottled ales. All our staff receive accredited training from the WSET, the Wines and Spirits Educational Trust.

Richard Jones is the fourth generation of the Jones family to be involved with the business, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Simon is our longest-serving manager having previously worked for Oddbins in 'the good old days'. As well a passion for some of our more eclectic wines he has encyclopaedic knowledge of all things malt whisky.

Kieron joined S H Jones in 2005 and has held a number of positions within the company. He is currently responsible for our wine buying and studying towards the Master of Wine.

This is Janet's second stint with S H Jones having previously worked in our wine bar, she returned in 2008 to work with her new found passion for wine. She is half Spanish and this has a great influence on her love of matching wine with food.
